Display is not so responsive

  • What package and version are you using ?
I use a brain V2. and just use one battery to run the amiga.
  • Please, describe the issues you are seeing ?
The display of the amiga is not responsive, which mean even if I touch the screen, it does not respond even though I can hear the sound of touching that the panel produces. Moreover, I am not sure if this is related issue, but sometimes, the panel does not wake up even though the brain and the pendant are turned on. When this happens, the brain always shows “e-stopped” next to the battery icon of the brain.

As of now, it was concluded that the dashboard became too hot due to the direct sunshine. Some protection to prevent it from the sunshine was recommended. I will give updates here if this issue persists

@MScatolin I have experienced this issue even under the cloudy weather. I also cover the dashboard with a blue fabric. It seems that the dashboard is becoming hot by itself. Is there any way to ease this issue?

Today’s usage was like this. I used one battery, and the brain and 4 oak-d cameras were running. For today, it was 23C, so it was not hot as well.

Intersting. Was it blank or it was okay, but the touches were not responding well?

One think I can think of is about batteries. Using only one can cause grounding issues, which sometimes make the display unresponsive.

Thank you. It was just not responding. Let me test it outside with two batteries when it is sunny. I will keep posting updates here.

Okay so I tested with 2 batteries (same battery level). The screen got unresponsive too after I ran for about 7 mins. Something interesting happened though. In short, e stop got activated even thought I did not press the button. After the screen got unresponsive, I took the amiga inside (I can still drive it) and let it sit for 5mins. Then, the dashboard said “clear e-stop”.

So does this mean it has something to do with e stop? I checked the connections of cables but nothing was loose…

We have tried replacing the firmware of the dashboard with new one because we assumed that this might be a memory issue of the dashboard. But, we are still figuring out because the replacement did not work.

So, we decided to replace the dashboard. But, things described here could be things you can try before replacing.

  • Create a sun protector around the dashboard
  • use two batteries (not one)
  • update the firmware (if you suspect a memory issue of the dashboard)
