NTRIP Drops during autoplot application

I am having trouble maintaining my RTK correction through NTRIP. For correction, I am using either the NYS CORS or a local Emlid RS3 Reach base with ntrip caster. Both the base and amiga rover are connected to the internet via wireless hot spot on a tablet and smartphone, respectively. RTK and filter convergence are initially successful; however, when I start generating or following an autoplot path, the RTK correction drops. To get it started again, I have to leave autoplot and re-apply the NTRIP before picking up the RTK correction again. Is there a way to auto-reconnect the NTRIP if it temporarily drops without having to exit autoplot?

HeY @TerryBates, thanks for your question.

Based in our experience here, that type of behavior suggests the RTK service is dropping due to spotty wifi connection, a too far base station, or lack of GPS signal (maybe cloud cover or trees?).

Now, since v2.3.1 we can actually set the time threshold for GPS corrections going to

Settings → Robot Localization → Time Thresholds → GPS Stale Thresholds (s)

Does that help?

Thank you @MScatolin. I will give the time thresholds a go. I agree that my problem may be wifi related. I have worked on improving the GPS base station but I am still using SIM cards and hotspot connectivity. I am working with my Cornell IT person on a wifi connectivity for our whole research farm (~50 acres). Have you run across any good whole-farm wifi solutions with any of your other clients? I am working with Yu Jiang at Cornell and I am looking forward to implementing viticulture solutions with the Amiga. Terry

I’ve seen mesh wifi solutions for farms in the past, but none that we tested here at farm-ng, so I don’t want to throw brand names our there.

For testing, we usually use a 5G router with some success depending on the area, and when not available, we use Starlink, which is givin us wifi around 100 yards (if i’m not mistaken).

Let me know if you find an interesting solution out there.
